When Courage Meets Opportunity

This week we spoke on the podcast about a survivor who shared their story after 69 years. I (Deanna) had been at a school in 2022 where a teacher shared their story after a middle school presentation. In 2023, she approached me again.

To see someone who connected, after almost a lifetime of living with an unsafe secret, was more empowering than I can put into words. She is the true embodiment of "it's never too late to tell" and "Healing every day". She saw an opportunity to share and tapped into her courage to walk up to me.

If you're a survivor who has shared, I ask you take time to reflect on why you shared. Hug yourself for taking a leap of faith and opening up.

If you're a survivor who has not shared, you need to hug yourself too. Thank yourself for surviving, for protecting yourself for as long as you have. It requires great strength and bravery to keep going, even if we don't feel particularly courageous. When you're ready, we're here. We're all on the path of Healing Every Day together.
